When to use ADVISE and ADVICE

For us to easily remember, the word “advise” (with an S) is a Verb and the word “advice” (with a C) is a noun. Moreover, the main difference between the advice vs advise in terms of the meaning is that “advise” is an action word to recommend, or to give information to someone. On the other hand, “advice” is a noun: an opinion or recommendation offered as a guide to action. Read below how you can use them in a sentence.

When giving a recommendation or opinion we use advise. For example, “The lawyer advised the client not to sign anything that she did not read first.” However, advice is a guide with regard to future action. For example, “The best advice I can give you is to study hard for your exam.”
